About your Newport News Doula

I’m Kathleen—mom of two boys, DONA Certified Birth Doula and IBCLC in Newport News, VA. I have been working in the perinatal support field since July 2020, but it was my own experiences with birth and breastfeeding that led me to birth work—I was inspired to support others the way I had been supported. As a pre-eclampsia survivor, VBAC mom, and parent to two kiddos who struggled to nurse with tongue ties I know just how hard it can be to navigate the medical system and advocate for the birth and parenting journey you want. But, birth and parenthood have a way of helping us discover strengths we didn't know we had. With knowledge, preparation, and an experienced doula and IBCLC to guide you, you can absolutely feel empowered as you welcome your little one to your family. It is the greatest honor of my life to help my clients find their own strength along their unique journey into parenthood.

If you are a Tricare beneficiary, comprehensive doula care and up to 6 lactation visits are covered at no cost to you! Contact me to learn more.

Karina, Birth Doula Client

“With Kathleen's support, I really felt like I could give birth without pain medication and really own my feminine power! She helped my husband know how to support me and I loved that team approach. Kathleen receives my highest recommendation as a doula!”

Rachel, Birth Doula and Lactation Client

“Kathleen was absolutely crucial to my achieving the birth of my dreams! Not only did she provide extremely helpful guidance as I labored at home and at the hospital, but she also guided us through the rocky beginnings of our breastfeeding journey with great professionalism. Her expertise in knowing the anatomy of birth was clear as she coached me through positions & exercises that helped my son into the best position for birthing. In addition, having such a knowledgeable IBCLC in the birth room was incredibly helpful as we navigated my son's less-than-ideal latch. The fact that she knew our birth story so well (since she was present!) was essential to helping us get our son the care he needed to correct his oral restrictions. “

Emma, Birth Doula Client

“When it came time for the doctors to start talking about different interventions Kathleen made sure I was aware of what they were talking about doing and that I was ok with what was happening. This is what I asked for so she did exactly what I needed her to do. she is driven to make sure the mom gets what they want and that they are happy and comfortable, I highly recommend her!”
